Love you big much!A/N: Well, I've been telling you guys about this one for a while and finally decided to post it. I wasn't sure if I wanted to start posting something else right now since I'm in the middle of a couple others. But I really wanted to see what you guys thought of the first few chapters. Let me know what you think.
Xander Harris was tired. He’d spent the two years following the destruction of Sunnydale following the slayer and his best friend around the world. He needed a break, to get away from young slayers in training, vampires and demons, and the other stuff that came with being involved in this dark world.
At 24, he should be having the time of his life. Things hadn’t worked out that way for him though. He had loved and lost more than most people twice his age. He’d even help save the world a time or two.
Now, he wanted to take a step away from it all. All of the darkness, all of the death and all of the fighting. He wanted to curl up on his sofa and watch sci fi movies until his butt was numb. He wanted to build, something, anything, just because he could and not because it had been destroyed and needed to be fixed.
Most of all, Xander wanted to find a normal life again. He didn’t know if it was possible though. He’d seen so much, knew so much, that it didn’t seem possible for him to go out into the world and act like nothing was out there in the night, trying to destroy the good.
But he was going to try. Even if it only lasted a week, he was going to try.
Putting on his resolved face, and chuckling at the image of Willow the thought provoked, Xander strolled into his apartment and tossed his bags to the side. He was finally home. Looking around his newest living space, Xander had to shake his head and laugh. This place was a dump.
Grabbing his keys, Xander left the apartment again and headed for the nearest grocery store. There was nothing worth eating left in the place. Still smiling at his sense of freedom, he strolled through the aisles and tossed food randomly into the cart.
Once it was full, he loaded up the car and headed back to his home, ready to start being an average guy, eating junk food and chasing girls. Xander chuckled at his last thought. Right. Chasing girls. He hadn’t chased a girl since Anya and even then she’d done most of the chasing.
It had taken a long while for Xander to get over that Anya didn’t make it out of Sunnydale. He was able to smile now when he remembered her and their antics together. He rubbed his eye patch absently while he remembered her asking him to make pirate noises for a sex game.
He really missed her. But it was time for him to move on, to find someone new to share his life with. Someone who wasn’t a slayer or a witch or a demon. Someone who he could be normal with. It was a pipe dream but one he was going to shoot for.
Xander unloaded the car and started for the stairs before his senses told him that something wasn’t right. Before he could drop the bags he was carrying, he was grabbed from behind.
He struggled, but more arms came out of the darkness. There wasn’t much he could do to stop them. He was, after all, only human. And a human against six demons didn’t stand a chance.
Xander fought valiantly as he was dragged off into the night. He screamed and yelled until one brutal punch to his head rendered him unconscious. When he woke up, he was surrounded by demons.
They taunted and jeered at him and he smarted off right back, not caring that each mouthy comment earned him another punch or another kick. He wasn’t going to let them get the best of him.
Eventually though, his body couldn’t take the abuse any more and started shutting down. He realized that he was going to die but he wasn’t scared. He was sad. Sad that all of his dreams and plans were never going to come true. Sad that he would never meet another girl and fall in love. Sad that his last words to Buffy and Willow had been that he couldn’t be part of their life anymore.
When his body finally gave out, Xander Harris only hoped that his friends would know that he loved them.
His body was discovered in his apartment 3 days later. Willow wanted to see him, to check in and he wasn’t returning her calls. She stiffened her back and marched right over to let him know that they were still friends whether or not he was involved with the slayers and the council.
The moment she reached his front door, she knew something was wrong. She tried the handle and it was open. When she pushed the door open, she didn’t even have to step in before she saw him.
Willow collapsed there in the doorway, screaming and crying, trying to control her magic and barely hanging on. She dragged out her phone and called Buffy and Giles who came immediately.
They were all appalled at the devastation. Xander was gone, killed in a horrible way, and a message was left for the slayer on the wall, painted in his blood. It seemed the demons were finally sick of having so many slayers around and wanted to send a message.
They had cut out his heart, not knowing that Xander was their heart, but the message was even more poignant for that very reason. Giles took control of the situation, calling in favors and gathering up the two devastated young women.
His funeral was held several days later. The shock waves that went through the community of slayers would be felt for a very long time. No one knew what to do without him, how to go on. Buffy and Willow were inconsolable and they both vowed to destroy the demons who had killed Xander.
As they slipped into darkness, seeking vengeance for Xander, there was a shift that demons throughout the world sensed. It seemed as if the fight for good had finally taken a blow it couldn’t recover from.

Wow sweetie!! Brilliant Xander voice!! I can understand why he’d want take a break after everything that happened, and why he’d want to be on his own. Very realistic intro. And his thoughts about Anya made me go Awwww. I miss her too.
I loved the pace of the chapter, and really got me into the story!! Very intriguing darling! Can I nag you to post some more???
