Angel approached the house on the edge of Sunnydale slowly. It looked deserted and he checked the address again. This was where Willow sent him to find Xander. He glanced around slowly before moving up to the house.

His first glance into a window revealed a pale and sick looking Xander. He was lying on the couch, shivering slightly and his face was contorted with pain. Angel ran to the door and kicked it open.

Xander jerked up from the couch, his groan of pain tearing through Angel. “Invite me in.” The words were demanding and hard.

“No.” The refusal was simple.

“Damn it, Xander, invite me in.”

Xander’s head was shaking before he could get the response out. “I can’t Angel. I can’t do it again. You have to give me some time. Please Angel. Just leave me alone.”

Angel growled, his eyes going yellow. Xander whimpered, terrified and hurting but needing to stand his ground.

“Invite me in or I will set this place on fire and force you out.” Xander’s head jerked up at his threat and one look at Angel’s face told him just how serious the vampire was.

Xander’s resigned “Come in” was barely audible but it was enough for Angel and he burst through the doorway and to Xander’s side. Xander leaned back onto the couch and turned his head to the side, offering his neck again.

Angel’s fingers brushed the wound there, and he felt the trickle of tears at his eyes. He hadn’t been gentle. The marks on Xander’s neck were bruised and the wound itself was torn and messy.

It wasn’t supposed to be that way. He wasn’t supposed to hurt Xander. He never intended to take blood from him. Angel brushed his fingers over the wound, before leaning over and brushing his lips to it.

Xander flinched. It nearly tore Angel’s unbeating heart from his chest. He was so afraid that the scent of his fear overwhelmed everything else. Angel leaned forward and pressed his forehead to Xander’s.

The breath in Xander’s chest hitched and Angel’s heart broke further. “I’m so sorry, Xander. I’m so very sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I never meant to hurt you.”

He was unprepared for Xander’s tears but knew that they were justified. He slid his arms under Xander’s body and tried to lift him but Xander’s gasp of pain told him that he was hurt more than he originally thought.

Angel continued lifting and cradled Xander in his arms before moving through the house, looking for a bathroom. He realized as he held Xander that he was hotter than he should be.

The blood loss and injuries were weakening him and his body was fighting, burning with fever even as he lost strength. Angel carried Xander into the bathroom and turned the faucet on the tub, relieved to find the water heating quickly.

Xander slipped into oblivion as Angel carried him around. It made it easier for Angel to slip off his clothes and take a look at his injuries. Angel was horrified by what he found. Not only had he brutally fed from Xander, he’d taken him brutally as well.

There was still blood around Xander’s entrance. It was torn and swollen and Angel wanted to howl his own pain at the injustice. Xander saved him, brought him back from the edge and this was what he got in return?

Drained of blood, used and tossed away like he didn’t matter. Angel swore to make it up to him. He would make this better and as he gently lowered Xander into the warm bath, he knew that it was his turn now. His turn to save Xander.

Angel gently cleaned the lax body and held him softly until the water started to cool. He pulled Xander from the water carefully and moved him into a bedroom before lowering him to the bed.

Then he searched the house, finding pain medicine in the cabinet as well as an antibiotic ointment. Xander was waking as he returned and Angel pressed the pills to his lips before following them with a glass of cool water.

Xander swallowed obediently and lay back against the pillows. “You don’t have to help me. I’ll be okay. You should go.”

Angel scowled. “I’m not going anywhere. Xan, I know I don’t deserve your trust, but there is something I want to do to heal you. Will you trust me to help?”

Xander hesitated before nodding. Maybe if he let Angel do this, offer to heal him, then he would leave Xander alone.   Xander stiffened when Angel shifted his face and his fangs dropped. Angel bit into his finger until a small flow of blood came from the would and he pressed it to Xander’s mouth.

Not knowing how to respond, he accepted the offering and let Angel’s bloody finger slip into his mouth. He swallowed around it reflexively and felt the blood slide down his throat.

Angel pulled it away and pressed the bloody finger to Xander’s neck, rubbing his blood around the jagged wounds there. Then he leaned over Xander again and Xander arched his neck to the side, allowing Angel access.

Angel felt Xander’s body tense below him as he pressed his lips to the wound on his neck. Then he licked the torn flesh and let his saliva and blood mix to heal the bite. He licked his lips clean before raising up and looking at Xander.

His face was still tense, not wanting to trust again, but allowing Angel to be close. Angel shifted down and pulled Xander’s thighs apart gently before pushing them up and exposing his other injury.

Xander began to panic but calmed at the look on Angel’s face. As Angel’s face lowered, he tensed again not knowing what to expect. Angel licked him and the feeling was so strange that Xander didn’t know what to do. He tried to pull away but Angel held him steady.

He continued licking the wound there before biting into his own tongue and sliding it into Xander, letting his blood and saliva do their work again. After a few moments, he pulled away and allowed his features to slip back to human once more.

He laid himself out beside Xander and pulled him against his larger body. Xander held tense again but relaxed when Angel stilled, settling him in and just holding on. Xander moved his head so that it was lying on Angel’s shoulder before drifting off to sleep.

It was more than Angel hoped for. It was enough.

*hugs Xander tight* He’s so broken, and Angel is so desperate to help him and I seriously hope that Xander will let him and that they’ll find a way to make things right between them.
I love caring Angel so much! Almost as much as I love daddy Angel :)

(And yeah I did notice it got darker after the first chapter and I love it even more!)

I was actually pretty teary eyed when I wrote parts of this. I wanted to hug Xander myself. And I'm glad you said *almost* as much as daddy angel...I would be worried otherwise. lol

This is getting great. I hope Xander and Angel will be OK. They need to talk. And how much does Willow know and What about Buffy and Giles do they know.

Be careful doing all that running...wouldn't want you to slip and fall on Angel and Xander. Or, maybe that's what you want? :)

Glad you're liking this!
