Whoa!  Ever been woken up by an earthquake?  I hadn't either...until this morning.  I thought I was having a seizure!  Then I thought a car or something had run into my house.  What?  I'm not my most creative at 5:30 am!!  No damage or anything and the news said the tremor only lasted for 10 seconds.  Wild stuff.

I've not been home all week and apparently my LJ notifications aren't coming through.  So I'm sure I"ve missed tons of stuff on the flist.  I'll try to go back through and catch up but....don't know how much time I'll have.

I'm going to work on Missing this morning some so that I'll have something to post today at spring_with_xan.   I was hoping to complete the series today but that's not going to happen.  I'll have to request a 3rd day.  Sorry!  I really thought I'd be able to get it done but RL has interfered yet again.

I'll hopefully be back online (and IM) this weekend but I don't have any definite plans yet.

It's always fun ( not ) to wake up thinking the house is falling LOL and I only laugh because I have been through it before when I lived in Cal. I understand about RL and will await your return with baited breath,

It was so weird! I didn't know what was going on so my brain was making up all these reasons for what it could ahve been. I'll be back on track soon!!

Oh darling *hugs you* I'm so glad that we haven't earthquakes here because I don't know how I would react.

And you missed that Daddy hasn't answer our questions for weeks...Zoe thinks that he plans anything naughty...do you know more?? *look hopefully*

And I gave a little hint that I haven't forgot your daddy!kink crossover with Booth and Angelcake I just hadn't time to write it *gg* Or maybe you don't want it anymore? *giggle*

From: [identity profile] jasonsnene.livejournal.com

It was scary! Yeah, we'll have to yell at him for not answering questions. Maybe he'll let us punish him this time? *eg*

From: [identity profile] dischargie.livejournal.com

Yeah, if all of his fanged four yell at him he must answer^^ Do you really think that he will allow us to punish him? Hmm, nice idea *drool*

Yeah I have been woken up by an earthquake... more than once I'm afraid. When we had the big earthquake in Athens in 1999 we slept outside at the park because it wasn't safe in the houses and we had aftershocks all night.

As long as there was no damage though all is good :)

Take care sweetie. I miss you *g*

kisses xxx

OMG! That is so dang scary!! This was over so fast that I didn't even realize what was going on. I'd just about convinced myself that I'd imagined the whole thing when I turned on the news and saw the story on the quake. Wild!

From: [identity profile] angelstoy.livejournal.com

wow, that is wild!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and you too, on not getting lj notifications??!!!!!!! same here and it's fustrating as hell!!!!!!!!!!! missed ALOT of good stuff including the last 2 chapters of Harem boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (which I'm going to read as soon as I get home from work!!!!!!!!)

From: [identity profile] jasonsnene.livejournal.com

I know! Scary!!

Yep, no notifications and it's ticking me off! I depend on those dang things!! Well, read Harem when you can. It's not going anywhere.

From: [identity profile] angelstoy.livejournal.com

We don't get earthquakes here - just tornados but I can imagine an earthquake is equally as scary, if not more so, so I hope you're ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and SAME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (on depending on the notifications) sometimes I just want to kick the damn thing in it's lj butt!!!!

oooooooo and speaking of harem boy and other stories, I JUST can't get that story you wrote me or chapter 6 of harem boy out of my head!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm working on some manips for you as a continued thankyou for the story (cause I just freakin' LOVE it!!!) and because the idea of Graham and Angel together makes me absolutely quiver!!!!!!!!! (hope that's ok!!)

From: [identity profile] jasonsnene.livejournal.com

That is SOOOOO okay! You know how much I love pressies. Funnily enough, I'm working on something for you as well but it's not coming together as quickly as I'd hoped. I just can't get myself sitting inside to write when it's in the 70's outside. But I'll get it...maybe the next rainy day. lol

So, I'm guessing you live in the southern part of Illinois or Indiana? Don't stress too much, I'm a geology nut and get emails about earthquakes all over the world. The early morning highlight today was a 5.2 in the northern part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, ie southern Illinois.

You should be fine, but if you get any stronger tremblers, you should have stuff like your plumbing and foundation looked at, just to be on the safe side. You should probably walk the walls in your house and look for cracking anyway, as many homes in the Zone were not built to the more strenous codes that are required in say, California, and could be more vulnerable.

Glad you are doing ok, can't wait for more of Missing, even if not all of it...

Northern Indiana actually. It amazes me that we felt it so far away. We haven't felt anything else so I'm hoping this morning was it. Thanks for the info!! None of us know what to do. This is our first quake.

yeah, not surprising that you felt it that far away, but most likely, you won't have structural damage. A quick check of any plaster or stucco should do you fine. If you were closer, I'd be more concerned, but not really...

Here's the United States Geological Survey (USGS) website that will show the most recent quakes as a map... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Maps/10/270_40.php

Check it out!

I'm sorry (sad?) that you had to go through that darling. It's not a nice experience... *hugs you tight*

When I was in Greece last summer I felt an eartquake for the first time (not counting the one in Argentina because I was to little to remember). When the actual earthquake began we where out having dinner and it took me actually sometime to register that it was happening, and not my mind going wonky after one glass too many of retzina... One of the aftershooks (which was nearly as big as the real one) happened about 3.30 in the morning. Woke my brother and I and gave us a fright when the beds (with us in them) in our third floor apartemen began to slide on the floor.

Geh *shudders* I'm happy I don't live in an eartquake 'friendly' part of the world...

From: [identity profile] jasonsnene.livejournal.com

Oh wow! That sounds so scary! I don't know what I would have done if it would have been that bad!! *shivers* I'm just glad it only lasted 10 seconds. I think if I had woken up enough to recognize what was going on, I'd have been a lot more scared.

From: [identity profile] softbluebuddy.livejournal.com

I lived in SoCal for 30 years, so I have been awakened by my share of earthquakes. It must have been terrifying for you since it was the first time.

If I was you, and not to be an alarmist, I would go online and look up earthquake preparedness and just pick up a few tips just in case of aftershocks. Probably nothing will happen, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared and know where to go in your house to be safest. In doorways, etc.

Good luck and big hugs. I hope that was it.

BTW-I've never been in a tornado or hurricane. People always asked me how I could stand living in California because of the earthquakes. Dang, tornados and hurricanes terrify me. I could never live in the midwest of the gulf near Florida, Mississipi, etc. Too scary for me.

From: [identity profile] jasonsnene.livejournal.com

Funny you should mention tornados and hurricanes. Been through both of those. 4 hurricanes in one summer a few years ago in Florida. It was scary.

I've been poking around today looking at different info. It's just so weird to experience something like that for the first time.

From: [identity profile] tamakin.livejournal.com

Whoa!! Thats bloody scary! Ive never felt one, but would be kinda curious as to what it feels like, a mild one mind you, not a big scary death one lol!

Glad yous all ok :D

From: [identity profile] katsa-db-lover.livejournal.com

OH! an earthquake! that must have been scary? O_O' I've never experienced sth like that! :) hope you get online soon, miss ya!

Earthquake

Scary!!! What a thing to wake up too! Glad you weren't injured

That's the main reason I don't live on the west coast. If my sister didn't live out there, I don't think I'd ever visit (coward that I am)

Looking forward to reading your new works.

I was used to earthquakes back when I was a California girl, but I can see where you'd be pretty well disconcerted (I resisted the urge to pun and say "shaken up"). Was there any damage done where you were?
