Spike’s Passions part 15

Another day passed with Xander effectively avoiding Spike. He kept himself surrounded by the girls whenever they happened to be in the same room at the same time. He made sure to leave while it was still light out so Spike couldn’t follow him.

It was really starting to piss Spike off. Hell, even dream Xander was willing to talk to dream Spike about what happened. Why the hell wouldn’t real Xander give him a chance?

Tara looked quickly around the room and was relieved that no one was around. This was her chance, an opportunity to get Willow out and Charity in. She wouldn’t do anything too bad. Just enough to piss Tabitha off and make Willow look like an idiot.

Taking Willow’s ingredients, she carefully removed one and replaced it with another. The bottle was labeled correctly. If Willow was paying attention, she would catch it. Of course, Tara knew that Willow never paid attention.

Tara left the room with a slow smile on her face. Timmy watched from behind Tabitha’s desk with a smile on his. Now the fun would begin.

The next day, Theresa found herself sitting at her desk outside Ethan’s office and couldn’t keep the wide smile from her face. That had been easier than she’d thought. Because she’d been watching, she knew that Ethan’s assistant needed some time off. The woman was 9 months pregnant after all.

So she volunteered to fill in for her while she was on leave. Theresa had convinced Ethan to give her a chance, to help her get out of waitressing and give her experience in an office environment. Ethan was only too happy to help out the little sister of his friend.

Now she had her in. She would be able to spend time with Ethan every day, showing him what a wonderful person she was. She would become indispensable to him and he wouldn’t be able to be apart from her when his assistant came back.

As Theresa was spinning her dream world, a beautiful woman approached her new desk. “May I help you?”

Cordelia looked at Ethan’s assistant with surprise. She certainly didn’t look like the efficient type he usually preferred. “Yes, I need to see Ethan Crane please. I’m an old friend.” Cordy pasted on her brightest smile but it was lost on the young woman. In fact, it seemed to make her glare even worse.

She picked up her phone and dialed Ethan’s extension. “Ethan? There’s a lady here to see you. Says she’s an old friend. Ok. I’ll send her in.”

Cordelia nodded her thanks and started for the office door. It opened before she got to it and there he was, looking at her with his wonderfully handsome face. “Cor?”

“Hi, Ethan.” She barely got the words out before she was swept up into his arms in a breath-stealing hug.

Theresa was pissed. How the hell many beautiful women was she going to have to get rid of to get Ethan for herself?

Noah sat outside the offices of Crane Industries. He’d followed Cordelia here, hoping to have a chance to speak with her again. He didn’t know what it was about her, but he was drawn to her and couldn’t seem to help it.

The fact that he was now practically stalking her wasn’t lost on him. It was depressing that he was reduced to waiting outside her house on the off chance that he would catch a glimpse of her.

Now here he was, sitting outside Crane’s and staring at the entrance, waiting for her to come back out. He was ready to start the car and drive away, disgusted with himself, when a glimpse of someone emerging from the building caught his eye.

He looked over and felt his heart begin to race. No. It couldn’t be. What were they doing here? Noah rubbed his hand across his eyes, sure that he was seeing things but his vision was clear and his eyes weren’t deceiving him.

Charles Gunn and Wesley Wyndam-Pryce were walking out of Crane Industries with Julian Crane himself.

Noah started his car and pulled away, hoping they didn’t notice him. What on earth would Ethan’s father be doing with his ex business partners?

********************************************************************
Grace Bennett stared at the house where the witch supposedly lived. Grace wasn’t sure she believed in witches but she was desperate enough to give this a chance. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to get out of the car and approach the house.

Sam wouldn’t approve of her being here. Grace knew that her husband did not like Tabitha or what she represented. But Grace was desperate. She wanted the first 20 years of her life back. She’d tried every form of traditional therapy that she and Sam could find. They’d even tried a few untraditional ones, although she’d had to convince Sam to give those a try.

Nothing worked. It was as if the first 20 years of her life had been erased, taken forever by the fire that nearly killed her.   Even her sheriff husband hadn’t been able to find out much about her past.

But maybe this witch would know some sort of spell or treatment or something that would help. Grace wondered for the millionth time if she was crazy. Maybe there was a reason why she couldn’t remember. Maybe there were things she wouldn’t want to remember.

Grace shook off her doubts and stepped from the car. She was a wife now, and a mother to three wonderful children. Her Sam had risked his life to save her all those years ago and had given her a wonderful life. But her children were grown now and she needed to know where she came from.

While his wife was walking into Tabitha’s, Sam Bennett was walking into Alistar Crane’s mansion. He hadn’t been asked here very often but when he was it was never for anything good.

The door was opened by a stern faced butler and Sam was led to Alistar’s office. The man himself was sitting behind the desk on the phone and he gestured Sam in and towards a seat.

Sam sat back and watched Alistar in action. There was a reason why the man was powerful and wealthy. He commanded authority and his words were law. Sam listened as he wielded his way through a negotiation and then he calmly hung up the phone. Sam presumed he had just added substantially to his billions.

“Sam! So good to see you. Thank you for coming by on such short notice.”

“No problem, Mr. Crane. What can I do for you?”

“That’s my boy. Right to the point. I knew there was a reason why I backed you for sheriff. None of this dancing around the issue stuff those other idiots are so fond of.”

“I try, Sir.”

“Good. Now, how about you explain why you are investigating my friend Mr. Giles.”

Sam looked at him, surprised that he knew. Sam had kept his inquiries very quiet and handled the details himself. “He seemed suspicious, Mr. Crane. I thought I’d better check him out since he’s new to town.”

“He’s here working on a project for me, Sam. That’s all that matters. So you stop your digging and you have your son stop watching the house.”

Sam tried to keep his surprise hidden. What was Noah doing watching the house? Damn. This had just gone from bad to worse. He could explain away a few inquiries. He couldn’t explain away his son.

“Thanks for letting me know Mr. Crane. I’m sure any friend of yours is just fine. I’ll make sure everything is taken care of.”

“I appreciate that Sam. Now, you can see yourself out.”

Damn it. Not one peep about dream Spike and dream Xander. How the heck was he supposed to know what to do? Spike laid back down and realized what he was thinking. He was waiting for a dream to tell him what to do? What the hell!! He was the Big Bad. He didn’t wait on anything or anyone. He took what he wanted. And he wanted Xander. And damn it, he was going to get him.

Although that bit about Cordelia knowing Ethan was interesting. And he wondered if Tabitha was going to help Grace. Oh, and Sam was sure going to be pissed at Noah. Spike settled in to think over his plans for Xander and if his thoughts occasionally drifted to what was happening in dream Harmony, he just let them wander. You never knew when something going on in soap world could be useful.
