Spike’s Passions part 14
Xander didn’t want to talk to him. Still. It was ridiculous. Just because he’d called out Willow’s name in his sleep was no reason for Xander to not discuss that kiss. It was a great kiss. Xander should be begging for more. Not avoiding him. Not pretending like it had never happened.
So here he was, home alone again. Waiting to fall asleep so he could get some ideas from dream Spike. How pathetic.

Tabitha and Timmy were waiting for Willow and Tara when they returned. Tabitha noticed that the redhead was looking particularly exhausted while Tara was looking refreshed and relaxed.
One of these days Willow would learn. Tabitha had a sneaking suspicion it would be later rather than sooner. But it wasn’t Willow that concerned her. Tara, her perfect apprentice, on the other hand caused Tabitha too many sleepless nights.
Tabitha gave the girls their assignments and turned to Timmy. They left the room and Tabitha waited for Timmy’s report. “So, tell me about my girls’ weekends.”
Her little doll boy was only too happy to oblige. His tiny voice was music to her ears. “The white witch spent her weekend as we expected: With the unworthy one.”
Tabitha nodded. Not a surprise there. Tara seemed to be entranced with Charity. They were going to have to do something about that soon. Tabitha was sure they could think of something.
“And how about my little red witch. What sort of trouble did she get into?”
Timmy’s answer caused Tabitha’s eyes to light up. Oh, this was good. This was very, very good. She might just have a true apprentice in Willow yet.

Cordelia snuck her way into Angel’s room. Her father did not approve of how close their relationship had become, but she knew that after how angry Giles was the night before, Angel would need her today.
He was lying on his stomach across the bed and Cordelia winced when she saw the painful lashes across his back. “Oh, Angel. I’m so sorry.”
“Nothing to apologize for, Cordy. It was my own fault. I know the consequences of disappointing your father. And he was right: I deserved it for putting you at risk. It should never have happened.”
Cordy went into his bathroom and returned with a wet cloth and his first aid kit. She carefully cleaned his wounds before applying the antibiotic ointment from the kit. “You know, I can take care of myself. You and my father both act like I’m helpless. I’m not.”
“Don’t even talk like that Cordy. It’s not right. Your father and I are both trying to protect you. You know what’s at stake here. Don’t start thinking that just because we’ve come so far that this can’t all fall apart. And you aren’t the only one who will suffer if we fail.”
“I know. I’ll be careful.”
She stretched out beside him on the bed. “Remember when we were little? None of this stress, none of the fear. Magic was fun and an adventure. Now it’s dark and scary and it stopped being fun years ago.”
“We’re going to fix this. I promise. Your father isn’t going to let anything happen to you.”
“And you won’t either.”
“I’d give my life to keep you safe.”
“I don’t want it to come to that.”
Angel pulled her close and kissed her softly. “I will do whatever it takes. I can’t lose you, Cordy. I love you.”

Ethan entered his office and was surprised to find Theresa waiting for him there. “Hey Theresa. I’m surprised to see you here.”
She smiled coyly at him. “Good surprised or bad surprised?”
Ethan laughed. “Pleasantly surprised. What can I do for you?”
“Well, I’m hoping to ask a favor.”
“Sure, come on in and we’ll see what I can do for you.”

Miguel finished his shift at the hospital and headed for home. He wanted to find Xander but didn’t really know what to do or say to help. He knew that Xan would go to Ethan and Buffy first if he needed help. Well, maybe not Buffy this time, but Ethan would be there for him. Ethan was always there for him.
He pushed down the quick surge of jealousy that threatened to overwhelm him. Ethan and Xander had been friends forever. Miguel had been important to Xander until he’d left him. Xander had enough people leave him. He needed someone who would stay. And Miguel hadn’t been that person for him.
But maybe now was his opportunity to make that up to Xan. To show him that he was here to stay and that he stilled loved him. It was a risk. He could just become a rebound for Xander. Miguel believed in them though. He believed in the love that they shared and he knew they could go back again, if only Xander would give him a chance.
Taking a page from Theresa’s book, Miguel sat down in his apartment and began to plan. He thought of it as ‘The Seduction of Xander’. He’d make Xander fall in love with him all over again.
**********************************************************************
Xander stared at the phone trying to work up the courage to call Spike. It was harder than he thought it would be to keep that promise. But he always kept his promises so he picked up the phone and dialed.
Spike answered with a breathless “Xan?” on the first ring.
“Hey, Spike.”
“Oh, baby, I’m so glad you called.”
“I promised you I would.”
“And you always keep your promises.”
Xander couldn’t help but smile a little. The fact that he was a promise-keeper had been something of a joke between them. Spike said in order for him to remember his promises Xander would have to write them down and keep them organized. Xander had promised to keep him on track. Guess that was one promise he hadn’t been able to keep.
The thought sobered Xander and he took a deep breath, not sure of what to say next. Spike heard the quiet sadness and wanted to make it right. “Xan, please come to the house so we can talk. Please. I won’t do anything. I just want to see you, to explain. I know I don’t deserve it after everything, but, for what we had, for everything we were together, could you please give me this chance?”
Xander wanted to shout a denial, but he couldn’t. His love for Spike hadn’t just disappeared when his heart shattered. As much as he wished he could just throw it all away and forget everything that had happened, he couldn’t.
“I’ll be there in an hour. And Spike? You’d better be on your best behavior. One outburst, and I’m gone. We clear?”
“No problem, Xan. I haven’t been drinking, I swear. I just want to talk. See you soon.”
Xander hung up the phone and felt tears form in his eyes again. He sniffed them away. He was done crying. No more. He’d go see Spike and put this to rest once and for all.
*******************************************************************
Cordelia left the house through the broken fence again. She’d slipped Angel into a dreamless sleep and her father was busy working his spells. She only needed a little time to catch up with Ethan and then she would come straight back.
They would never need to know that she’d left the house. She hoped.

Spike jerked awake and was surprised at how excited he was. Dream Xander was going to go see dream Spike. They were going to work things out. Things were going to go back to normal and they would be happy and he would figure out how to convince his Xander to give him another chance.
And then he remembered that dream world was soap world. This probably wasn’t going to go like he hoped.
