Miguel moved across the dance floor towards Buffy and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned and let out an excited squeal when she saw him and leapt into his arms. After planting a loud kiss on his lips, she turned to the young hottie she’d been dancing with. “Buzz off.”
The man frowned but turned and walked away. Buffy and Miguel began dancing and were soon laughing at each other’s antics. It was like old times. Back when Buffy, Xander, Ethan and Miguel were inseparable.
Buffy wasn’t fooled by his laughter though and soon led him into a dark booth in the corner of the bar. She waited for a moment for him to speak but he remained quiet, sipping his soda and staring at the glass like it was the most fascinating thing in the world.
“Spill.” Miguel looked up at her words.
“Spill what?”
“Miguel, I’ve known you forever. Just tell me what’s going on and we’ll fix it.”
He let out a sigh before giving her a sad smile. “I don’t think you can fix this.”
“Try me. You’d be amazed at what I can do these days.” She gave him a sexy leer which he returned with a laugh.
“I’m constantly amazed by you. Have been for years. Too bad you’re one of my best friends. It’s a sad, sad world.”
Buffy laughed, momentarily distracted by his banter. But a moment later the sad look was in his eyes. “You might as well tell me. You guys didn’t give me the nickname ‘Bulldog Buffy’ for no reason. I can drag anything out of anybody. So give.”
Miguel returned his gaze to his glass. “I just left Xander and Spike’s. It’s not good, Buffy. I’m really worried about him.”
Buffy slid out of her side of the booth and slid in next to Miguel. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him up close. “Oh honey, I know. I’m working on it. I’ll figure out a way to get him out of there.”
He looked up at her and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. “I knew I could count on you.”
Neither of them noticed Xander standing at the door or the stricken look on his face as he turned to leave.

Tara reached the Magic Box just before it closed and rushed around grabbing the supplies Tabitha needed. She handed them over to the cashier along with the cash Tabitha had given her. She left as quickly as she came and loaded the supplies into the car.
Then she took a look around, before slipping around to the back of the shop. The backdoor slid open just as she got there and a slim hand reached out to grab hers. “Hey, baby. I didn’t think you were ever going to get out of there.”
Tara smiled at Charity, the girl from behind the register, before she was enveloped in a tight hug. “I didn’t think she was ever going to let me out of there. I have tons of news.”
The two women sat down to talk. “Willow snuck out. I don’t know where she went but Madam was really angry with her and she is still being punished. She’s been really strict with me now as well. But some wizard guy has just come to town and she’s worried.”
Charity looked hopefully up at Tara. “So, do you think she might get kicked out?”
“I don’t know. I think if she messes up again there’s a good chance. And then I could put in a good word for you. You should have gotten the apprenticeship in the first place.”
Charity shook her head at her girlfriend’s loyalty. “You’re biased.” She pressed a quick kiss to Tara’s lips. “So, do you have to go right back?” Tara hated to kill the hopeful look on that beautiful face but she had to.
“She’s probably already wondering what’s taking me so long. I’m sorry, sweetie. I’ll try to get away for a bit this weekend.” Another quick kiss and Tara was heading back out the door.
She paused and looked over her shoulder at Charity. “I love you, you know.”
Charity’s face lit up with the force of her smile. “I love you, too.”

Giles and Angel were sitting in front of their fireplace enjoying a nice glass of brandy. Now that they were here, their plans would be much easier to enact. Giles was feeling that tingle of excitement he always felt when he was starting on a new project.
And this one had so much potential.
Neither were surprised to hear the knock at the door and Angel knew that it was his cue to leave. Giles moved to the door and Angel left through the back. He only heard, “Hello, Alistar” before he closed the back door and started towards town.
There had to be something interesting around here to keep a guy like him busy. He passed the Magic Box and paused to glance inside. The only person inside was the clerk and she was busy closing up.
Angel took a chance and opened the door. He gave her his most charming smile before speaking. “I know you’re getting ready to close. I just wanted to take a quick look around and then I’ll be out of your hair.”
She turned to look at him and Angel was struck by her innocent beauty. He had a thing for blondes and this one was certainly his type. Charity blushed under his intense scrutiny. “Is there something in particular you were looking for?”
“I think I just found it.” Charity flushed an even deeper shade of red. “Would you like to grab a drink?”
“I’m sorry, I can’t. But thank you for offering.”
“Another time, perhaps?” He gave her his killer smile again. “I’m Angel, by the way. I’m new to town and would love for someone to show me the ropes.”
“I’m Charity. And Jake’s is the place to go around here. It’s just down the road a few blocks. You can’t miss it.”
Angel noticed that she had avoided his offer of another time. Oh, well. He knew where she worked. “So, Jake’s it is. I’ll see you around, Charity.”
Charity watched as he exited just as quickly as he came in. He certainly was as mysterious as he was gorgeous. She quickly put those thoughts aside though as she thought about the upcoming weekend and whether or not she would get to see Tara.

Angel found Jake’s easily enough. Charity was right. It was just down the street and it looked like it was pretty busy. He went straight to the bar and ordered a drink before turning to scan the bar.
His eyes were immediately caught by a slender blonde dancing in the center of a crowd of men. There was something interesting about her. Angel made his way through the crowd but stopped when he saw another dark haired man approach her.
She gave him a quick kiss and he left the bar. Then, as if she could feel him watching her, she turned and caught his eye. She arched a brow at him and he took it as an invitation and headed her way.
She danced her way towards him, ignoring the groans of disappointment from the men surrounding her. The music slowed and Angel took the opportunity to pull her close. She didn’t resist.
“Hi. I’m Buffy and you’re new in town.”
“Angel. And yes, I am.”
Buffy gave him her most brilliant smile, the one that had won her several pageants back in the day and Angel was reeled right in. This night was going to turn around for her yet.

Spike stopped pacing in his studio when his cell phone started ringing. He answered quickly and was relieved to hear Xander’s voice.
“Spike? Spike, I need your help. Spike! SPIKE!”

Spike woke up when Xander pulled on his shoulder. He leapt up and pulled Xander into a tight hug. “You came back.”
“Uh, Spike? You okay there buddy?”
Spike realized with a start that he was back in reality. Damn.
