They followed him through and found themselves in a large room. Angel thought it resembled the old ballrooms of the previous century. Large elegant chandeliers hung from the ceiling, paintings of slaves in various forms of sexual service graced the walls and at the end of the room, seated in his own throne like chair, was the leader of the Er’Gastuls. Angel and Spike approached him cautiously. Spike was the first to realize that Xander was chained naked at the demon’s feet. He snarled and leapt forward. Angel quickly grabbed the back of his duster and held him back. The demon watched the display and let out a chuckle. “Master Angelus, Master Spike, welcome to my very special auction. I’m so glad you decided to attend.” Angel growled, allowing his demon out. With yellowed eyes and fangs bared, he approached the demon on the throne. “I decided to come and get my friends. I decided that I wanted to kill you for daring to touch what’s mine. I decided to let my childe have a go at you just to see the pleasure on his face when he rips you to pieces. That’s what I’ve decided.” Angel stopped within feet of the demon and glared at him with the look that had frightened many demons through the years. This demon just laughed. Angel pulled back a fist and struck, his fist bouncing off the protective barrier surrounding the demon. The demon pulled its heavy cock out and Xander sat on it, as he was expected. Spike saw the grimace of pain cross his face but no other reaction was evident as the demon bounced Xander up and down on his lap. Angel glared. “And what do we owe you for this honor?” The words were dripping with sarcasm. The demon ignored it. “Well, Master Angelus, it’s easy. There will be some point in the near future that I need a favor from you, and your childe. In return for returning the humans to you, I expect you to do what I ask when the time comes.”

Xander knew something was wrong as soon as he approached his apartment door. After living on the hellmouth his entire life, he had a certain sense for these things. His keys turned in the lock as he froze.
Something was inside his apartment and although it was tempting to just run in and do some Xander version slayage, amounting to getting thrown around and generally beaten bloody, he knew that without Buffy around he should cut and run.
Leaving his keys hanging, Xander tore out of the building. From the sound of the footsteps behind him, he didn’t have much of a head start. Before he knew it, he was at a four way stop. To the left, Spike and his crypt. To the right, Giles and his apartment.
Xander barely paused before turning left. It would have been a good plan. After all Spike was all souled now and he was fighting with the white hats. The problem was the group of teenagers who were hanging around just outside the cemetery.
Xander was too much of a white hat to lead whatever was chasing him directly into the group. So, barely ten steps into his race to Spike, he was forced to turn and head back the other way, towards Giles.
His misstep had cost him his lead. Something was gaining on him, the pounding footsteps closer than before. Xander added on a burst of speed, pushing his body harder than it had been pushed in a long time.
Finally, Giles’ building was in sight and Xander ran to the door, slamming his fist against it, hoping Giles was home and close to the door. His luck was with him and the door was pulled open quickly by the Watcher himself.
“Xander, what on earth?” Giles was pushed out of the way as Xander slammed the door closed, forcing the locks in place.
Between his gasping breaths, he panted out “Demons…chasing…me.”
“Good God. Get some weapons from the chest.” They both scrambled to arm themselves. But it was too little, too late. The door burst open and they were both hit by a spell. Xander’s last thought before he faded into blackness was that he hoped he hadn’t gotten Giles killed.
Day One:
Spike knew something was wrong. He couldn’t tell what though and it was nagging him, like a fly buzzing around his head. The whelp would say his spidey sense was tingling. Spike would pretend not to know what he was talking about. It was a little game they played.
Not that he would admit to enjoying the company of the tosser. No, Xander wasn’t his friend. They just liked to hang around and annoy each other. So what that lately that had involved more laughing and drinking than insults and snarking. Didn’t make them friends.
Spike decided to track the whelp down. He might even tell him that his spidey sense theory had merit. The closer Spike got to Xander’s apartment, the more he knew something big was wrong. By the time he got to the door, Spike was running.
Xander’s door was standing open and his keys were hanging in the lock. And Spike could smell demons. Bloody hell, something had happened to Xander. And Buffy and the other bints were off on some shopping trip.
With a slight snarl, Spike headed for the Watchers. There weren’t many places to go for help, and even though Spike despised the man most days, he would know how to help Xan. And that’s what was most important here.
Spike ran over to the Watchers, trying to pretend he wasn’t in a panic. No need for the Watcher to know just how important the whelp was to him. The wanker would just find a way to use it against him.
But Giles’ doorway was similar to Xander’s. There were signs of a struggle here though. Spike took a deep breath. And he could smell the demons here too. And fear. Ah, hell. Xander had been here. And he had been terrified.
Just the thought of Xander being handled by any demon that wasn’t him caused Spike’s own demon to burst out. His features shifted and his fangs dropped. Well, if someone wanted to mess with his, he would mess right back.
Spike headed to Willie’s. The stupid git knew everything that went on in this bloody town. Problem was, Willie didn’t know shit about any of this. There were no rumors, no suggestions of anything going wrong.
Now Spike’s options were limited. There weren’t many places he could go for help these days. Most of his sources had dried up during his days as a chipped vampire. He trolled the town though, seeking out old haunts and shaking down any one he came across.
Nothing. No one knew a damned thing.
Day Two:
Spike was trying not to freak out. Buffy and the girls would be home tomorrow. He could just imagine her reaction to finding her Watcher and one of her best friends gone. It wasn’t going to be pretty, that was for sure.
Spike set out again at dusk, finding other demons to question or beat for information, whichever method they preferred. Finally, he got a break. A new fledge had seen Xander being chased by three demons.
Problem was the idiot didn’t know what kind of demon it was and had turned and run when it caught sight of them. Spike dusted him out of spite and kept up his search. He returned to both Xander’s and Giles’ apartments, looking for anything out of the ordinary.
It was actually thanks to Xander that he got his big break. The whelp was always making him watch those stupid spy movies. Well, he noticed the security camera at the corner market. Xander would have run right by here if he went straight to Giles.
He stalked into the store and frightened the clerk into showing him the tapes. After a few minutes fiddling with the recorder, he finally saw him. Xander, running to the intersection. Looking left. Looking right. Running left.
Spike realized that Xander had run towards his crypt. He slammed his fist into the table. Moments later Xander came running back by, looking over his shoulder repeatedly. Spike saw the group of teenagers walking towards him.
Always the white hat, Xander was. He wouldn’t lead the demons straight into a bunch of innocents. The demons were closer now though and Spike knew that Xander wouldn’t be able to outrun them.
Then the demons ran closer and Spike got a good look at them. If he’d needed to breathe, he would
have stopped when he saw them. As it was, his entire body froze, unable to accept what he was seeing.
have stopped when he saw them. As it was, his entire body froze, unable to accept what he was seeing.
Spike knew then that he wasn’t going to be able to handle this on his own. As he headed out of town, behind the wheel of Giles’ car, he hoped that they would be able to rescue them in time.
Day 3:
Spike slammed on the brakes and was out of the car before the engine had time to rumble to a stop. He ran into the lobby and bellowed, “Oi, Peaches”, while looking around at the interior.
His Sire was very predictable when it came to his lodging. Old style, old class. That was Peaches. And then the vampire himself stepped from the shadows, glaring at Spike.
“Now is not the time, Spike.” Angel glared at the bleached blonde, daring him to challenge his words, itching for a fight.
“Peaches, I need your help.”
“What part of ‘Now is not the time’ didn’t you understand?” Angel stalked past Spike and into his office, gathering dusty books as he went.
“Damn it, you bloody pouf! This is important. More important than some dusty book!” Before the words were completely out of his mouth, Angel had him by the throat, pressed back against the wall.
“Angel. Stop!” Spike’s words only seemed to infuriate Angel further and his hand tightened around Spike’s neck. Spike’s hands were clawing at the arm holding him, but having no luck in loosening his grip.
“Sire. Er’Gastul demons have Giles and Xander.” Angel’s grip loosened.
“What?”
“Xander and Giles are missing. I found a tape that showed Xander being chased by a group of Er’Gastuls. Please Sire, you have to help me.”
Angel dropped his hand and turned to his desk. He dropped his head and stood there dejectedly for several moments before speaking. “They have Wesley, too.”
Spike, for once, had nothing to say. At least now he knew why Angel was in such a pissy mood. Spike knew the feeling. Nothing could make a vampire feel more powerless than when something happened to one of their own.
Angel handed a worn book to Spike. “I’m trying to find a way to access their realm. They generally capture their slaves and then take them out of this dimension for training. We need to figure out how to get there so we can get them back.”
Spike noticed Angel’s use of the word ‘we’ and was relieved. If he and Angel were working on this together, he had no doubts that they would get their boys back. He opened the book Angel handed him and started reading.
Hours later and they were no closer to finding a portal to get them. So it was really convenient that an Er’Gastul demon shimmered into appearance in the lobby before dropping a letter and shimmering away again.
Angel threw the knife lying on the desk but the demon was gone before it could hit. The knife sunk into the wall behind where the demon was standing. Spike ran for the letter, snatching it up and returning it to Angel.
The letter had “Master Angelus” written in flowing script across the front. Angel tore the envelope open and jerked the contents out.
“Master Angelus. You are invited to attend a special slave auction. Please be ready for our next contact.”
It wasn’t signed. Angel crumpled the letter in his hand and threw it.
They continued their research, learning as much about the demons as they could from the books. Both vampires knew that they were slave traders. The books didn’t tell them much more than that.
Slavery in the demon world was common. Many of the weaker demons were captured and enslaved. But the demons generally vied away from capturing humans. It drew too much attention to them.
The fact that the demons had captured humans was bad enough. The fact that they knew that Wesley was close to Angel was very disturbing. Added to that the disappearance of Giles and Xander and neither vampire could discover their purpose.
Why steal away friends of Angel only to offer him an opportunity to purchase them back? Or was that even the purpose of the specially delivered invitation. Neither vampire knew but it was certain that they would be attending and would do whatever it took to get their friends back.
The hours passed slowly as they waited for the Er’Gastul demon to return. Angel used the time to sharpen his weapons and make a large withdrawal from the bank. Spike paced, nearly wearing the soles of his boots off. When the demon finally appeared, both vampires jumped to their feet. He gave them a slight bow before waving his hand and opening a portal. In response the demon patted his leg and Xander rose and draped his body across the demons lap. Spike watched Xander closely, noticed the dead look in his friends eyes. He hadn’t even acknowledged Angel and Spike’s presence.
The demon rubbed his hands down Xander’s back and caressed the flesh of his ass. He looked up at Angel. “He’s such a beautiful specimen, isn’t he? It took me so long to break him.” He forced a scaly finger into Xander’s opening. “But he’s so beautiful this way.”
Spike snarled and leapt forward again. He struck the barrier and just stood their growling and snapping his jaws. He would tear this demon into tiny pieces. The demon looked at him. “So, Master Spike, this one is special to you then?”
Spike watched as the demon shifted Xander’s body, forcing the human to straddle his legs. Xander obeyed the slightest gesture of the demons hands, without a flicker of emotion on his face.
“He’s such a good pet. I wanted to keep him for myself. I still might.” He sent Spike a warning glance. “I suggest you listen to what I’m offering before I change my mind and decide to keep them all.”
Spike hated seeing Xander this way, helpless to do anything to stop his violation. He stepped back from the barrier and stood by Angel’s side. His Sire was much better at the politics.
“We’re listening.” Angel arched a brow, waiting for the demon to speak.
“That’s better. Thank you, Master Angelus, for being so reasonable.” The demon snapped his fingers and two other forms were drug into the room. Giles and Wesley were as naked as Xander and appeared to be in similar shape. Neither human acknowledged the presence of the vampires. They dropped to their knees in front of the demon and waited for his command.
“Your other two friends.” The demon gestured and Giles and Wesley crawled to his side. Angel growled when he saw Wesley lean down and kiss the demon’s feet. “They were more easily broken than the boy. It’s strange, really. I thought he would be the first to go.”
The demon continued to slowly raise and lower Xander’s body. When Xander let out a whimper, the demon jerked him forward and slapped him sharply across the face. “No noise, slave.”
Xander fell to the floor and crawled to kneel at the demons feet, prostrating himself. Spike was growing more livid with each passing moment.
“You see, Masters. I have trained your pets very well. They will bring you endless nights of pleasure.”
“Done.” Spike spoke the words before Angel could. It didn’t matter to him. He would do anything to get Xander out of here.
Angel stood silent for a moment. “Done.” He knew this was going to get him into trouble down the road but he would do anything to get his friends back.
“Very good! This is wonderful. Now, my guard will return you to your home. He has the information you will need to properly care for your new slaves.” The demon stood and the humans around him slowly shifted to their feet.
“They will be arriving separately. There are some final details to complete their training. The demon walked away and the humans followed him docilely.
“Our friends are coming with us. Now.” Angel was snarling again, his anger nearly consuming him.
“I’m afraid that’s impossible Master Angelus. But don’t worry, they will be along very shortly. I recommend that you read through the materials I’m giving you in the meantime.” He waved to a guard and left the room. Xander, Wesley and Giles followed, never looking back.
The guard opened another shimmering portal and the vampires stepped through. He handed Angel a small, black bound book before stepping back into the portal and disappearing.
